So my out there theory depends on themes of the series. A huge theme is inherited will. I think there may be yet more to blackbeard's lineage than this. It seems like perfect theming to the series if blackbeard and rocks represent joyboy's literal bloodline while luffy represents the inherited will of joyboy and those ideas will clash.
Is there are chance that xebec holding two fingers up is not only for "Two questions" and fire pose, but to foreshadow his devil fruit? But not op-op, but awaken bara bara no mi? Chop chop sign is the same as scissors after all. This is big stretch, but is it possible that awaken bara bara no mi, could slice literally everything? Not only mountain, but person soul or heart? This would be one of the ways to store multiple devil fruit in one body. If we go a little bit more this would be the reason why xebec has two faces and two different shades of hair. Maybe he got his look by trying to implement other races aspect to his body?
Also this could be the reason blackbeard has three different personalities, maybe xebec sliced his soul into three different parts and also implemented his will somehow in to his son. This is why blackbeard has multiple personalities as part of his soul is basically xebec trying to guide to his dream. This would be also aspect of blackbeard story as it would make him basically kid following his fathers dream and not his own making him totally opposite from luffy.
It would explain why blackbeard does not care or interact with buggy right now, because he is xebec son too. Also it would be quite classic story telling as both blackbeard and buggy inherited both things what made xebec xebec. One got his will and another his power.
