In the world of One Piece, the Celestial Dragons hold immense power and influence, making them standout characters. Descendants of the twenty kings who established the World Government ages ago, they chose to remain in Marijoa and adopted the title of Celestial Dragons. Their existence was wiped from official records, and new royal families were elected to govern their respective countries. The Celestial Dragons possess extraordinary privileges that distinguish them from other individuals in the One Piece universe. They can commit atrocious acts without facing any consequences for their actions. Treating others as inferior, they frequently seek to enslave them. These privileges have led to the majority of Celestial Dragons becoming spoiled and entitled, with even kings and queens of other nations obliged to comply with their demands. Consequently, it is exceptionally rare to encounter a sensible-minded Celestial Dragon. However, among the few exceptions was Donquixote Mjosgard, who actively defied the typical behavior associated with his kind. Donquixote Mjosgard's demeanor was far from kind and well-mannered in the past. Like his fellow Celestial Dragons, he would frequently hurl insults at individuals from different races. However, Mjosgard's life took a dramatic turn when he found himself on Fish-Man Island. Being true to his nature as a Celestial Dragon, he insulted the inhabitants of the island, provoking a hostile response from them.
The situation could have escalated rapidly if not for the intervention of Queen Otohime. In a remarkable act of selflessness, Queen Otohime risked her own safety to shield Mjosgard from a potential lynching. Despite facing opposition from many on Fish-Man Island, she stood firm in her decision. Otohime's unwavering compassion had a profound impact on the Celestial Dragon, causing him to recognize and regret his past mistakes. This transformative experience was evident during the Reverie arc, where Mjosgard demonstrated a changed perspective, influenced by the memory of Otohime's compassion. Amidst the gathering of various royal families in Marijoa, the delegation from Fish-Man Island stood out prominently due to their non-human nature. While most attendees ignored or disregarded them, Shirahoshi caught the immediate attention of Charlos. The young mermaid princess possessed an unprecedented allure, prompting Charlos to harbor a desire to enslave her. One might have expected Charlos to postpone his enslavement plans until after the conclusion of the Reverie, but his impatience got the better of him. King Neptune and his sons were filled with fury upon witnessing Charlos' reprehensible behavior. However, they understood that retaliating against him would jeopardize the realization of Otohime's dream and make Fish-Man Island vulnerable to targeted destruction. Fortunately, Donquixote Mjosgard came to Shirahoshi's rescue when he witnessed Charlos' intentions. Being a fellow Celestial Dragon, Mjosgard took immediate action and struck Charlos with a club, preventing anyone from interfering. King Neptune expressed his gratitude towards Mjosgard, and Shirahoshi was granted the freedom to explore Marijoa. However, Charlos was not one to easily give up. Determined to achieve his desired outcome, he resorted to a different tactic, enlisting the assistance of Bartholomew Kuma. Kuma, now reduced to a mindless slave, obeyed Charlos' commands. Utilizing his formidable strength, Kuma effortlessly bound Shirahoshi in chains. Once again, Mjosgard arrived on the scene, granting Sai the permission to strike Charlos. Attempting to intervene, Kuma found himself halted by Morley. This turn of events did not sit well with Roswald, who observed the unfolding events with great dissatisfaction. In an unexpected decision, Mjosgard took full responsibility for the attack, a choice that was met with disapproval from his fellow Celestial Dragons.
