I'm just now realizing that whitebeard took in the son of his former
(and probably deceased) captain into his family, helped him grow up and
then got backstabbed and killed by him in the end. We obviously knew all
of those things, but I somehow never thought about them at the same
time. Really showed how characters like rayleigh and garp were monsters
among monsters.
Dragon’s portrayal for the last few chapters has also been interesting.
He really feels like cadet koby in personality but also in power. In a
flashback with legends, dragon hasn’t shown that he is any more powerful
than a fodder marine.
He is a much better person with a conscience who holds himself
accountable for his actions (as understandable in the circumstances
those actions are). And he is willing to accept death for his part in it
all, even as small as that part was.
It could even explain his personality in the present. So many people
like to clown on him for doing nothing. But after being at god valley
and witnessing the power and cruelty of the world government, can you
blame him? He’s cautious to a fault but you can see why he would be.
