I think shanks let loki go here because he was pissed at the world government too but it wasn't until after getting the gomu gomu no mi and meeting luffy did he realize how important it was for loki to stay alive to meet luffy later and that's why he chained him up. We are back. With the flashback over and oda's jump fest statements about kicking up the pace and unexpected meetings, I think we're truly in uncharted waters now. Anything can happen! Imu is def a voldemort type character. The covenants are horcruxes that need to be taken down first before any real damage can be done to the main body.

Loved the shanks/gaban interaction. This arc has given us more insight for shanks then the whole rest of the story combined and I still feel like more is coming. Niddhog is most likely for the fruit at this point. Though it could still be an oc that combines various elements of real myths like nika, but I'm on the nidhogg train. I assumed loki's full name would have been loki haraldson going by the norse influence, but if elbaph is a "D", then it's possible loki and harald have a last name that haven't been revealed yet. The final attack, nifleheim, tells us all we need to know about 8 other potential attacks. Maybe we'll get them sequentially and we'll end with 'asgard' when we see the heaven realm. Well that last chapter really cinches it. Shanks let his arm get eaten on purpose. Once haki was introduced, it was a plot hole, but this chapter covers it nicely. It was the one branded by imu & the world government. When he 'bet on the new generation' he was willingly giving up his chance of being at full power to stop them; trusting luffy and his generation will be the one's to stop those at the top.
