Very interesting to see imu say that every covenant comes with a price to be paid, even for mu. What kind of price is imu paying to make these covenants? And does this price possibly extend to domi reversi too? My theory is that he's somewhat like big mom and is feeding off of the souls/life force of the celestial dragons. He tricks them into thinking they are gods and keeps them fat & happy and drains some of their energy... Maybe that's why they tend to be lethargic too. We've learned that some do become useful in a fighting capacity (god's knights) but almost all of them are pretty much soy and useless. So they must be contributing something. We saw imu get shook during egghead as well when the haki knot went off. He definitely doesn't feel so good when his work gets undone.

Your first paragraph is almost exactly what I’ve been thinking: either that, or imu plans to use them as a resource or sacrifice somehow. They’re just way too much of a liability and financial drain to keep around and cater to for their every whim if they aren’t of some use to imu. I was hesitant to think along those lines because in simple terms, it sounds a bit too similar to the plot of fullmetal alchemist, but I’m sure oda would write it in such a way that it’s unique, since he has done for everything else.
